YOU ARE BLESSED - 366 DEVOTIONS
MAY 20
AT THE END OF YOUR ROPE?
Habits begin like threads in a spider’s web, but end up like ropes.
Spanish proverb
Habits that are formed for a positive purpose can be a good thing, they’re good habits. You may be in the habit of praying several times a day, perhaps almost spontaneously when you see another person in great need of prayer. You may be in the habit of taking a long walk when you have a lot on your mind so you can think things through.
Some habits don’t secure your steps as much as thy bind you to them in negative ways. Perhaps you’re trying to lose weight or to stop smoking. You know it would be good for you to do so, but for some odd reason, you simple can’t break the habit that binds you. What started out in your life so innocently, has somehow tied you down and you may be at the end of your rope.
Today is your day to try again. Today, you can park farther out in the lot so you have to get a walk in even if you weren’t planning on it. Today, you can have one less cigarette than you had yesterday. You can start to change the thing that has you bound. Remember, you’re already in alignment with the One who makes you victorious.
“God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for Him,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.”
Matthew 5:3 NLT
Lord, please help me be victorious over those
habits that do not serve me well.
Amen
